Programs & Schedules

School Hours
Vaughan Co-op Nursery School operates from September through June, from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:30 PM. We are closed for two weeks over the winter holidays, one week over March Break, as well as all statutory holidays. We offer the following programs:

Pre-Care: 8:15 am to 9:00 am
Morning Programs: 9:00 am to 11:30 am
Lunch: 11:30 am to 12:00 noon
Nap/Quiet Time: 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm
Afternoon Programs: 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm
After-Care: 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm

During the winter, we follow the lead of the Toronto District School Board in decisions about closing or early closing, due to severe weather conditions.

    Morning Programs
    These programs runs Monday to Friday from 9:00 - 11:30 am. Children are divided into three groups according to their age.

    Toddler Group
    Younger Pre-School Group
    Older Pre-School Group

    As part of their morning schedule, all children engage in free play, circle, outdoor play (weather permitting) and snack.

    Afternoon Programs
    Mixed-Age Group:
    This program runs Monday to Friday from 1:00 - 3:30 pm. Children are in one mixed-aged group with two ECE teachers and two duty day staff. Their schedule is similar to the morning.

    Kindergarten Group:
    Vaughan has a Kindergarten enrichment program on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 1:00 - 3:30 pm that offers a science-based program with inventive and stimulating activities for Junior and Senior Kindergarten aged children. Kindergarten aged children are part of the mixed-age "family group" on Monday and Friday. The Kindergarten program can be connected to the lunch and aftercare programs if required. Their schedule is similar to the morning.

    Lunch Program:
    Hot lunches are prepared for children who stay over the lunch period. Hot lunches are balanced, nutritious meals in accordance with the Canada Food Guide. A monthly menu is posted. The lunch period is supervised by the Supervisor, one ECE teacher and the Admin./School Assistant.

    Pre-Care and After-Care Programs:
    The Pre-Care and After-Care Programs can accommodate up to eight children per day and are staffed by one teacher. The program includes outside free play, large motor and/or creative play, crafts, story-reading and child-directed activities. Pre- and After-Care is available on a full- or part-time basis.
