Registration

Enrollment Information
Children aged 2 to 5 years old are eligible to enroll in the school. Enrollment is normally limited to 38 in the morning and 29 in the afternoon. The 2 to 3 year olds are usually separated from the older children. According to the Day Nursery Act, for pre-schoolers we must maintain a ratio of 8 children to one ECE, and 4 children to one duty day staff. The toddlers have a ratio of 5 children to one ECE, and 2 children to one duty day staff.

Full-time enrollment is encouraged (i.e., 5 half-days per week in the program). Generally, children feel more comfortable and adjust faster when attending full-time, although part-time spaces are available.

Applications are processed in the order they are received, but priority is given to returning children, and then to the younger siblings of former Vaughan attendees. When the school is fully enrolled the Registrar or Admin./School Assistant maintains a waiting list. If space is available, the school accepts January enrollment. Children with special needs may enter the school with the approval of the Executive Board and Supervisor.

Documents Required for Registration
Before a child is allowed to enter the school, parents must return to the Admin./School Assistant:
  1. Signed and completed copy of the registration form. (This includes authorization for medical attention, permission for the child to go on trips and, if applicable, details of the insurance coverage for any car to be used on trips, parent membership agreement, financial form, health forms, and criminal reference check form. The criminal reference check is a legal requirement as of 1995 and must be accompanied by a fee of $15.90 for each individual who will be doing a duty day.) An emergency contact number is very important.
  2. Registration fee of $30.00.
  3. Post-dated cheques for tuition fees for the entire year. Please note that the last month's fees are to be prepaid. A cheque for the last month's fees should be dated August 1 for the year in which school commences.
  4. Work Day cheque for $150 dated June 1 for the year in which school ends.
